An Israeli Comedy with Interest

Udi and Tamar are an ordinary couple with an ordinary overdraft and a monstrously ordinary mortgage.
When they run into serious financial trouble and turn to the bank for help, they discover that the only way to escape their crushing debt is through the death of one spouse.
With no real alternative, they decide to fake Udi’s demise in order to collect the insurance money – setting off on a madcap journey that will show them what really matters in life.
(Spoiler: it’s not the mortgage.)

Reviews

Gam Ken Tarbut – Kan Culture Radio:

"The play is full of topical jokes. Everything feels close to real life. They’ve gathered all of Habima’s comedians—every bit of comic potential is fully realized, and the audience thoroughly enjoys it. The writing is fresh, effortless, never lowbrow, and the comedy works. Ido Rosenberg’s direction is elegant and well-paced. Niv Manor’s set design is spectacular, making this a comedy that is also highly visual and sophisticated."
